Spayed!
Kaiah got spayed today! just a week-ish shy of seven months old. She weighed 65 lbs. I feel so bad for her though, she keeps whining and looking at her belly. she seems uncomfortable, but shes already had her dose of tramadol for today. she was a little groggy coming home, and now shes just laying down. but i cant imagine the feeling that comes along with having your uterus taken out

Poor baby. Giver her a few days and she will be up and around and feeling much better. Now is the time to spoil her, offer her yummy food treats and alot of petting, hugs and scratches. It may or may not make her feel better but you sure will.

She'll feel better after a good nights sleep at home with her family.
Holly whined also, which makes a person feel so bad because you can't explain to them what just happened. But Holly was glad to be back at home with her family & sooned relaxed & enjoyed all the extra care & love.

Thunder shirts make great postoperative aids as well. If she gets restless you might try one of those to help her relax.

Many pups get a bad case of the "whines" when they come out of anesthesia. Drinking is important because it helps flush the anesthesia out of her system. You may be able to encourage her to take fluids by adding a little low sodium chicken broth to her water, or just giving ice chips. Fluids are really more important than food right now.
FWIW...when Maggie broke her leg at 6 months, I was able to give her Tramadol 50 mg every 12 hours for pain and she tolerated it very well. Tramadol is a non-narcotic pain reliever with few side effects which most dogs tolerate very well. If you think Kaiah is really uncomfortable, you should be able to safely give her another dose of Tramadol (every 12 hrs.) I don't mean to over-ride your vet, but I believe they often under medicate for pain because dogs are stoic, and many vets (for some reason???) don't believe in pain control. I'm like you...I can't imagine having my abdominal muscles cut into and my uterus cut out without it causing significant pain. Just sayin'.
Give Kaiah a gentle hug and ear scratch from me!! I'm sure she'll feel better by morning.

Bijou's vet sent her home with both rimadyl and tramadol every 12 hours after her spay. The evening she came home she wasn't interested in water but was ravenous. I fed her mushy rice and meat and put extra water in her meal to make sure she got fluids.

Missy didn't whine thankfully but, she was so tired she couldn't walk to the car so I had to carry her out to it. Now she did whine after her foxtail removal surgery but, they over drugged her and again she couldn't walk so I was having to help my 120lb love in the car and up the stairs. At least when she was spayed she was only 60lbs.
