Siege does it when he wants something. It could be to go outside, for me to pet him, feed him, or play with him. Depends on the time of day, and what is going on around him as to what it could mean.

Ahh yes.....the infamous Pyr Paw!!!
Yup, they all seem to do it in some way, and for their own reasons. Nick was famous for his burly "guy" paw...had to teach him to ease up on the force of the paw power!
Holly is very gentle, she does it when she wants more pets, more attention or for me to stop brushing her

Love the paw, especially when they are wet and muddy

Here is (so far) what I figured out the paw means: I am so sorry mom I dug in your flowers again paw, hello paw, and you better pay some more attention to me paw....

Once, Junior Bean missed my leg and pulled my shorts down with his heavy paw because I was not paying any attention to him. I make sure I have my shorts strings tight now!!!

Missy is a paw pro now. She will do it for attention, food, to open cabinets and anything else she thinks it's needed for.

Our new boy George is a heavy paw giver. We are working on correcting that into a gentler paw or no pawing for attention. He seems to be learning well.

Duke does the paw thing too when he wants to be petted. Once he was so excited that I was home he put his paw out like he wanted to shake hands. I don't mind it. Sometimes I just pet the paw or hold it just for fun.
