Default Possessive puppy

Looking for some advice-

We have a 4 month old male puppy, who is an absolute pet and as good as gold, but he has always shown signs of being alittle possessive over his food and over objects that he has found and we have done lots of work with him to be 'top dog' etc which seems to have worked, however if someone other than myself and my husband takes an object off him (perhaps something that he is not supposed to have) he growls and is quite aggressive, we have visitors fairly soon including two children and im worried he might get hold of one of thier toys and they might try and take it off him and he might get aggressive . We are at a loss what to do as he does not do this infront of us. Can someone offer some training advice

Try 'trading' with him for a higher value object or treat.

never pin the dog, that's for sure. I"d consult bark busters, they are in the UK. www.barkbusters.com is the US site.
