Default Puppy weight gain... is this normal?! Lol

    Hi everyone!!

We have a new baby as of 4/27... she is a pyre/Newfoundland mix (mom is pure bred pyre and dad is pure bred newf). She weighed 10.5 pounds, she was 8 weeks 4 days old.

Now, at 10 weeks 1 day old, she is 17.3 pounds.. she’s averaging around .5 pounds a day?!

She’s eating the suggested amount for her weight, I have her on science diet large breed puppy, and she loves it.

She has spurts of activity, but mainly she just wants to sleep.

She really is such an amazing dog, I have just never Owned a giant breed before, so I don’t know if this is what to expect?!

Pic of her cuteness included! Click image for larger version.

I have zero knowledge of newfie growth rates. For pyrs, from 2 months on, the pups average about 10 lbs a month. For some that the 10# / month gain rate slows down once they hit 6 months, but for others, they can continue with that rate of weight gain up to 9 or 10 months old.

    Thanks Jewel!

Now at 11 weeks 1 day, she is 20.5 pounds, seems to be gaining at a healthy rate. She is such a sweetheart we are so in love with her!! Very curious to see what she looks like when she grows up and how big she will be!

She is now 12 weeks and 23 pounds, her gain slowed a bit which is fine. She is doing GREAT! We adore her so much Click image for larger version.
