Default Methods for Pyr Weight Gain

Our 1 year old Pyrenees is less than 70lbs. I am beginning to worryu about him. Are there any good foods to give him that might help him put on a few pounds?

um...70 sounds pretty nice...lean..easy weight for his growing structure to carry around.

does his vet think he needs to gain weight?

quite honestly, in the heat & humidity of summer, weight gain can make him uncomfortable

when Rudy was at that age, he also weighed around 70 pounds....he's going on 6 & he has only gained about 4 pounds & he's still very lean.

It's not about how much he weighs but about what his body condition is. If he's in good body condition there is no real reason to fatten him up just for the sake of reading a higher number on the scale. Also, it is pretty normal for year old pyrs to be lanky. Their structure will continue to develop for a couple more years.

I had a 30" tall dog who weighed 74 pounds at full maturity. Admittedly he was pretty skinny but 3 vets confirmed he was fine at that weight.

Thanks for the reassurance!! Rex is quite fast, agile, and energetic. He can outrun and outmanuver a dog about half his weight. The laborneese has trouble keeping up with him
