Default How long will his fur be?

    Hi,

We recently adopted a 5 month old great pyrenees mix. The rescue had mentioned that he had lost some of his fur due to poor nutrition. His early puppy photos show him as having a lot more fur similar to a pyrenees pup.

It seems like as he is growing and being fed a good diet his fur is slowly getting longer. I was wondering what other pure bred pyrenees look like around 5 months? Do they go through a stage of having shorter fur before the longer coat comes in? He isn't shedding at all right now which leads me to believe he is growing back his coat. These are more recent photos

The full coated pyrs are born with a pretty fluffy coat. Your pup looks like he will end up with a shorter but plenty dense coat. He looks like a happy little guy!!!

My purebred guy carries a decent coat, here he was a about 5 months: Click image for larger version.

He lost a leg earlier this year, and had to have that area shaved for his surgery. You can see how fluffy his coat is compared to the shaved area.

Sebastian was probably between 2 and 3 years old when his adult coat reached maximum fluffiness.

    Jacques started off fuzzy.

Then around 6 months it was quite short but dense.

His adult coast since his second winter stay around this length.Click image for larger version.
