As the dogs have gotten to know each other, it seems they have worked it all out. Karma has decided she likes the puppy and seems to enjoy his play. Max is kind of lazy, and she seems to have realized that playing with him for 15 minutes gives her hours of peace. He was free fed at his first home, so perhaps when he first experienced schedule feeding, he worried we might starve him? Because he has now accepted that his food is his and hers is hers, no more attempts at trading and no more signs of aggression at any time about anything.

With the less-used areas of the house gated off, we are back to very rare pee accidents in the house and no poop. Our only issue now is probably more of a human acceptance issue than behavior...Max is not an amazing listener. He always looks at us when his name is called, and in training class or on leash or in a training session where he knows we have treats, he is phenomenal. But call him to get in the car or come downstairs or come into the bedroom when he feels he is busy napping or exploring or playing? He will look at us and acknowledge he heard, and carry right on with what he was doing. I am thinking we may just need to be glad that he never turns down a bribe and accept it, as that seems very much a breed trait. Is that correct?
