I'm so sorry that happened to you! Something similar happened to me today. I drove an hour to my doctor's appointment. 2 min before getting out of the car, she calls to let me know we have to reschedule because she had a mix up. Ugh!

Is there a way you can reschedule for next week? I would stick to a speacialist because it offers closure. A regular vet keeps you guessing about their diagnosis.

SM, I think you're going to want to be sure that Sebastian is ok and to be able to eliminate the nagging fear that you are missing something. The not being sure and having the constant stress of wondering is no good for dog moms! I'd be in favor of the vet that offers PT and has the ability to do surgery since this would leave you covered whichever way you decide to proceed. The fact that Sebastian is running about normally is really, really good. Most CCL tears don't have the dog bearing weight so soon, and if they do, there is a significant limp or weird gait in an attempt to compensate. I really hope this is just a bump in the Sebastian journey and nothing more will be needed!

Sebastian is continuing to feel better and better and better. Tonight, he decided that special hugs were in order for me, then he immediately went on a tear through the back yard for a few laps with Chester. He has been off of the anti-inflammatory meds since Monday.

I decided not to reschedule our appointment with the original orthopedist. Our regular vet had called us to recommend that we see someone else after seeing a dog who had been operated by the orthopedist and had had numerous complications. I had initially decided to keep the appointment with the orthopedist out of politeness, knowing full well that I wasnít going to let her operate on Sebastian.

As of right now, I am leaning more towards the pain management vet (physical therapy, etc) than seeing another surgeon for the time being. Our regular vet will be in the office on Monday, and I want to check with her before making an appointment with this guy, just to make sure that she doesnít have any misgivings about him. If she feels comfortable doing an orthopedic exam on him, I wouldnít object to that, either. I trust her diagnostic skills, and trust her judgement.

I am hopeful at this point that the initial diagnosis of CCL tear was a mistake. He is fully weight-bearing, running around like a madman, and just daring me to try and stop him. If it werenít so hot, he would be demanding to go on walks.

This was them right after their evening tear around the yard.

These guys are so stoic that it's hard to tell exactly what is bothering them...also smart enough to know how to get a little extra attention!!!

But I don't think Sebastian would do a thing like that!

Sounds like you have a very good repore with your vet & that you wil both make good choices for your guy

I am so glad Sebastian is recovering and that it was nothing too serious! I hope he's feeling 100% back to normal now

SM It's good to hear that Sebastian is getting back to normal... I cannot imagine how you'd keep Commander Fluff on "Light Duty"

I hope that you have some definitive answers and directions, but special hugs and a tear around the yard with Chester has to be a positive direction GRIN
