    Default Dasher....disclosed!

Okay, so not Pyr related.....well he does live with a Pyr!

About 2 1/2 years ago we went to "look at" a puppy that had been advertised as a "Mini Australian Shepherd"....one look at him & we knew there was nothing "mini" about him....and that a breeder would never advertise a "mini Australian Shepherd"...as the breed is known as "Mini American Shepherd"

We kept on wondering what was really in his DNA....and then SebastiansMom told us about Sebastians DNA test...so I ordered one for Dasher....

Results are in.....50% Border Collie....25% Australian Shepherd & 25% Herding, Sighthound & Hound. they did have a category for a mini, but apparently none showed up!

The other reason I liked this DNA test, was that not only do they have specific herding breeds listed that they test for, but they also do a health screen on the MDR1.....that is "multiple drug reaction" test...which he is clear of! And many other health related tests.

No matter what he is or isn't...he's our sweet boy!

I am so glad you got your results back so quickly!

I must say, Dasher is 100% handsome! I am also glad to hear that he does NOT have the MDR1 mutation!

Hubby was hoping for a McNab somewhere in there.....but I told him since Border Collies were probably used in breeding McNabs...that Dasher must have a McNab somewhere in his family tree...just way down the line!!!

Your dog is gorgeous! And I bet he is a genius too! I love his markings! The dna test seems fun and informative. I wonder if my rescue has other things in them. I was told one was a pug and the other is a pom. I keep thinking they have chihuahua in both.

Border Collies are the original McNabs. Honestly the biggest difference between the two is coat length in my honest opinion.

    Dasher sure is handsome.

snow....right now Wisdom is running a Mother's Day special...$10 off on their products.....the test I used for Dasher & is what SebastiansMom recommended is their 4.0 version

Tsunibear....the McNabs we have around here remind me more of Heelers....stocky build...muscular

thank you both for your kind words on Dashing Dasher....he really makes us all smile when wee are around him....now that's a special kinda guy!

He looks like he would like agility very much... I think I would be totally ok if you ship him over here so we can work on agility...

Dasher is a very handsome guy (would he be insulted if I said beautiful?). He appears to have the narrow chest and long thin legs of a sight hound like a greyhound, Saluki, etc.
