    Default Hiking packs?

    Hello,
New to this site and also to GP breed. I have adopted an 11 month pup and he has been well socialized. Couldn't have been luckier. I am wondering if anyone here hikes with their dog or skijoring with them? If so what tips or types of harnesses or hiking packs you have used? Also has anyone had experience with the hydration packs? Thanks!

    Welcome to the board!

Missy has a custom made hiking pack that I got from a local pet expo...I pimped it out with iron on because, it was too plain for my liking. I don't use a harness for her we use just a leash to walk and hike with. I haven't used a hydration pack either her hiking bag has a slot for two water bottles so I put them on and then latch the travel bowl to it.

Here are some pictures of her pack...it's simple and easy to use. I didn't need anything fancy and since I live in California I don't have it on her often cause I don't want her to overheat.

    Hi 40 Below,

Welcome to the forum. Can't help you with your questions. Some do draft work with their pyrs, so there probably is a harness for skijoring. You might try looking into a sled dog harnesses. A good size malamute harness might fit.

    What are hydration packs?

One thing to note you want to wait until the pup is at least 2 1/2 to 3 years old and the joints have tightened up and the growth plates sealed before exposing them to any pulling or weight bearing exercise of consequence.

    Thumbs up Thanks!

Thank you! Summer's can be pretty warm in the interior where I am. So lightweight is what I will be looking for.
