Thanks Terry! Those are indeed awesome photos! I was looking at the Canon Rebel T3i as well. Your photos, and the ability to get stills, have got Nikon on the radar. You have a lense too, nice! Just the price on the body of these dslr's has me gasping! Should the need arise, I'm totally going to be a lense renter!

This is the T3i. Having a great iso image quality would be really nice since I'd like to get indoor sports photos (no flashes allowed) as well. There's a camera place near here, I think I'll go in and play with both brands.

i didnt really need a new camera but my wife got it for me for Christmas and well i wasnt gonna send it back

it was between the Cannon that you are looking at or the Nikon and there was no particular reason why she went with the Nikon?

i am definitely a point and shoot guy and all the new cameras out now have way too many gizmos for my liking

Well I've got video hungry grandparents, so HD video with autofocus would be really nice. The swivel screen is good too for tracking image on a wiggly 3yr old! My poor busted non-dslr camera did a really good job with video, and surprisingly well at high iso images. I just had to test and tweak it f-o-r-e-v-e-r in every new lighting situation. It was a lot of work to get things looking right, but possible. If I'm going to drop almost a grand on a dslr I'm hoping some of that will be intuitive rather than high maintenance!

I like the gizmos, though I'm pretty nerdy. Did some macro photography on my old camera, it was awesome, but super high maintenance as well. I want *some* gizmo options, and sick shots when I don't feel like tweaking! Oh and it better be tough enough to last practically forever at that price too! I'm pretty low maintenance aside from tech stuff, but that's my husbands influence. A good Christmas for me is a Starbucks card and everyone around has figured that out haha!
