Default crusty pad on dew claw

this is perplexing, can anybody help. it's on one paw only, the other dew claw is the usual pink colour wit black colouration (so are the dew claws of the sibling). it's crusty, the dried crust will come off if i mess wit it. the part tat i did (it's like pulling out scabs, it's difficult to resist), turned pink again after a few days. wat is it? we went to the vet, he cudnt quite place it.

If the nail isn't in a pad then I personally wouldn't worry about it. Missy gets crusty stuff on her nails after a long day of playing and it is usually just stuff she has walked in and I just use a wipe and pick it off and voila it's normal again.
