I am just curious if my 2 female pups that are almost 6 mo old will be ok outside this winter? Right now at night it is about 40 or 45. They have a dog house they get in together. i would think that is ok. thanks

I hope it's a big dog house - aren't these puppies allowed in the house?????

no, they do not come in the house. It is a big dog house. Is 45 degrees cold for one of these puppies? I can put them in the garage at night if it is. That is why I was asking.

locking a dog (or any animal) in the garage is cruel, I hope if temperatures are too cold you would bring them into your home, they are warm blooded living mammals who crave human companionship unless they are utilized as live-stock-guard dogs - they will not appreciate desolation of a concrete floor, and darkness.

still, my question has not been anwered. I am not cruel to my dogs. I am wondering if 45 is too cold for them. I did not think that 45 would be to cold for big fury dogs. They do get a lot of companionship also. I do not have a typical job and I am with them most of the day.

Pyrs are bred to be hardy and do their jobs in the mountainous areas of the French Pyrenees, where it gets much colder than a garage would. In general, the breed usually prefers cooler climates to warm ones

that is what I would think also. I have been told that they do not get their full fur unti about 1 year of age. Stll I would think that the 40's is not to cold.

mine love the cold weather and they are out in the snow at the first chance. cold weather seems to increase their activity level

That makes me feel better now. I was starting to wonder. I just could not see how dogs that are bred for the mountains would get cold at 40 degrees. I know that they are not dogs yet, but I guess 40 is ok. Now what about later this winter like December when it is 10 degrees and they are 8 months old. Is that still going to be OK? Thanks for all the info.
