5 months old, you should not have a problem with ordinary distances that an adult dog can travel. You will know when they start to tire, because they usually start walking v e r y s l o w l y :)

Sam is now almost 7months old. We walk twice daily for between 30-45 min. usually dictated by the heat. LOL about slowly, Sam walks just fine until we start back home then it is like trying to walk a concrete block. But then he sees home and perks up. He is good on leash though and I love walk/running with him. PS: new Avatar Pic of Sam as of this morning.

I'm not sure how tired Queenie could be but she sure has a reputation for being the slowest moving Pyr I know. I think the heat here does play a factor with this but more likely her need to investigate every little thing is the biggest reason. We do have a lot of neighborhood dogs that walk regularly so I can just imagine she is too interested in smelling and "marking" everything. She is definitely not a high energy dog, even when romping around she will do things in spurts. That's fine with me as long as she doesn't gain anymore weight! I'm too old to be running her down the street anyways! :D

Hey Nick,
A five month old is able to do quite a lot. Our pup at 5 months was able to keep up with us on the regular walk with our 4 year-old male. Pyrs are pretty good at letting you know when they are tired. Our pup would just plunk her behind down and rest for a minute or two. I think by 5 months, she required two or three breaks on our long weekend walks, I don't know the distance but it takes about 1 1/2 hours and that's at the normal adult dog pace.
