He has decided that being outside in the nice spring weather is what he really likes. Well, since he likes to wander up the driveway and into the front yard or to the neighbors house to visit we have a gate on our deck. We have had it for a few years for our other dogs but until recently Leo could fit thru the slats in it. I put him outside last night while I was making dinner and he just layed on the deck watching the birds fly by, and watching me make dinner. I left the sliding door open so he could come in and out but he just layed on the deck like a good boy. He would give the neighbor a "big boy bark" when she went to go into her garage but he would then just lay down and watch everything going on around him. The best part is when I brought him inside he was dead tired. I love having a dog that doesn't require an hour or running to tire them out. He just needs some sensory stimulation and he is happy as a clam. Our Lab requires at least 30 minutes of frisbee time and he is 7! He was insane when he was a puppy. Leo just doesn't get the fetch thing and just wanders around instead. Our Newfie/GSD mix was the same way as Leo except he didn't need to have the gate up because he NEVER wandered off. He was my wife's "velcro dog". Leo is going to love sping/summer at our house since I spend a lot of time outside doing yard work or playing in the garage. And I LOVE my tired, cuddly Leo at night.

Aren't they just the best, sounds like my girl, just loves chilling out around the family. I am so glad we adopted her :)

Our first Pyr, Belle, loved to sleep on the deck at nighttime. She would go out there for hours. In the summer and spring, well at all times actually, she would stay out back all day practically, in the summer she had her holes dug that kept her cool.

When I had to go away I'd go outside and say, "Belle baby, come in go to the basement (which she loved too)." If she didn't want to come in she'd look at me with those Pyr eyes, 'nah mom, I'd rather sleep out here under the bush in the dirt today....'
If I was not going to be gone long she'd win and I'd just go run my errand.

I also left the back door open so she could come in and out as she pleased :) ahh the things we do for our Pyrs.

Now Sabby just hasn't quite caught on to that yet, so far he enjoys the cool floor of the basement. But it's so good to have a Pyr near you.........such a feeling of safety.

Enjoy!
