View Full Version : Funny: I Amaze My Pyr

I thought I would share this funny quirk with you all. When we adopted our male Pyr, Sebastian (my avatar), from rescue, he was really afraid of water, particularly if it came out streaming just like out of a garden hose (possible abuse when he was a puppy). He's become less afraid as he gets older, but it's still there. Anyway, every time any of us takes a shower, he has to be near us, but can't bear to watch. He lays just outside of the bathroom waiting for us staring at the wall directly opposite the bathroom - I've coaxed him in a few times while in the shower, but he walks in looking the other way. After I finish, step out and begin drying myself, he comes in with total amazement and relief. His look is total: "I'm so happy, you're OK...I thought you were a goner, for sure! Let's get you away from that water toture device." And, he starts herding me out of the bathroom. What kind of quirks do your Pyrs have? :p

haha.. that made me laugh! Mine freaks out if I sneeze. She will run into whatever room I am in to ensure that I am okay! :)

Those are adoarable. My Pyr, Willow, doesn't bark and does't seem too much like a guard dog quite yet, she's 8 months. So when she hears a noise at the door, she jumps up into our lap. I don't know how intimidating she'll be to an intruder when they see her cowering in my lap like a little baby. But, it makes us smile.

That is such a funny story.
Gosh though, quirks? Where do I start?
Oh but first....Our male is a Sebastian too! Middle name Cappacino (becasue his ears have coffee color on them and looks like he dunked them in coffee).

So the new quirk he has, is that after I take a bubble bath and let the water out, he barks at the bubbles left in the tub.

He's only 11 months old and we have a swimming pool that needs repaired in the backyard. When the wind blows it blows the metal and he doesn't like that at all and now is afraid to go out back. I have to take him on his leash and keep him away from the pool.

Another quirk.....

He burps!
Anyone else have a Pyr that burps....loud and obnoxious, just like a boy. :)

And he LOVES ice cubes.
He's obsessed with socks..............from the day we brought him home, he has been obsessed with socks.

I have my sock drawer in the truck that I cannot open when he sees. As soon as I go for that drawer he moves in on it and tries to grab socks out of it. He has ruined nearly everyone of my socks by putting small holes in them  once he gets a sock he tries with all his might to hide that sock in his jowl before I get to him. It's crazy.

He'll be a year old on February 6. He was born two days before we had to put our beautiful Belle baby to sleep from cancer. THAT was a hard night/weekend/week. My hubby was all the way out in California and I was home here in Ohio. Poor guy...couldn't be here to say bye to our first Pyr. It was really hard on him too.

yep, our Katie girl belches, just like my two grown boys.I cant believe it, lol.
She's almost 2 now, and for the longest time, even tho there was plenty of good water out, she would get in the bathtub paw/dig at the drain until I turned on the water gently, so she could get a drink from the faucet. She did that again the other day with 2 pans of fresh water in the kitchen. Hadnt done it for quite awhile. She used to stand with her front feet in the water buckets/pans etc, outside. Actually, she's kind of water aggressive, doesnt mind a bath.......Any one else have a water weirdo? What about the water aggression part? Any ideas how to stop that?

Oh garsh! Sebastian loves water. He loves wading in the ponds around here when we take walks. When he was a small pup, 5 months, we had him at a friend's house in New Hampshire and our friend's wife was watering her flowers...Sebastian was constantly begging her for drinks from the hose.
I know he would drink my bath water if it weren't hot!
He paws at his water dish, even putting his paw into it before drinking.
We had to buy him like a 15lb ceramic water dish so he wouldn't tip it. :)

Such mannerisms.

Sam, although only 9 weeks old, also belches. He eats then comes into the living room sits at the corner (his corner) of the rug and belches. Like, look Mom I'm full :) He also likes to lay with his head resting on his water bowl. What a kook!

So funny how much they differ! My Maxwell will not get near the water. I took him to the creek and we had to walk across rocks to get to the other side. I stood on the opposite side while he was standing on a big rock in the middle of the creek trying to think of a way to get across without getting his paws wet. Finally, a girl he doesn't even know crossed the creek and he followed her across... he's such a people loving pooch.

Our first Pyr, Belle, would not even drink from a mountain creek.....nor get her precious pretty paws wet. Now you put mud in front of her............and BONSAI!!!! take me to it master!

We were stopped at a beautiful lake up in Alberta, Canada one evening...and our Sammy mix loved cold mountain water, but nope, Belle would drink only from her water dish.
