Hi Wannapyr,

Good start. Atleast you are researching. I would start off by looking at "the breed information and training" headline. There is A LOT of good information there posted. There are great links with great information. My first thing is what do you want from a dog and what do you want it for? Ask yourself that. They are the best guard dogs, great with kids, fantastic with other animals, but tend to be dominant with other dogs and are not meant for protection training. I must reinforce however it depends on the lines and breeder you get it from. There are some lines that are much more aggressive, while others tend to be submissive. I am on my first pyr, two years now and I have learned A LOT because he has been such a handful in some ways, and because most people have no idea what pyrs are like mentally and don't understand them when training. I am familiar with the Ontario breeders and some American and I can tell you that there are some very food posessive lines out there, and ones that are very bad tempered. We have been involved in obedience, conformation and therapy work. I"ve seen a lot of bad breedings in the show ring.

Good luck, post any questions, people here are very responsive and have great experience between all of them!
